Baby rash?

My 5 week old baby has a rash on her face and the back of her neck that looks like tiny pimples. Is this normal? Could it be the baby ance I heard about? Should I take her to the doctor? Also I am breastfeeding her and I know it's normal for her not to poop everyday, but it's been a week, should I worry yet?

Yes, I would take the baby to the doctor. If you are breast feeding she should be pooping at least twice a day! And her bowels will be loose, that is normal.
Maybe it is something you are eating that is breaking her out or it could be the detergent you are using or heat rash.
Anyway get her checked out. She really needs to be soiling her diaper more often. You should be drinking lots of water to replenish your milk she is taking from you.

The rash is most likely baby acne. The rash around her neck you can treat by using baby powder. Apply the baby powder to your hands first because it is bad for the baby to breathe that. Apply it to your hands and rub it on her neck. It will help it go away. As for not having pooped in a week...not good. It is okay if a baby doesn't poop every day, but a week is too long. Speak to your pediatrician about this. Imagine if you didn't go for a week?

I would call the doctor. Your daughter could have baby acne, or it could be hormones passing from you to her, or it could be something in your diet that she is reacting to.

It is not normal for breastfed babies to be constipated. If she is straining or is really fussy during a bowel movement this is something you should discuss with her pediatrician. Is she having plenty of wet diapers and gaining weight well? Are you supplementing with formula or are you strictly breastfeeding?

It may be that she only has one bowel movement per week. Some babies are just that way, the tend to go less often. I would worry though, if she goes any longer than you have stated and if when she does have a bowel movement it is not a lot and she is uncomfortable. That could be an issue that she is not feeding enough or that she has a sensitivity to something that you are eating, or that her little GI system is having some problems that need to be looked into by a doctor.

At her age, she should be feeding frequently, every 1.5-3 hours or at least 8 feeding in a 24 hour period. Again her wet diapers and bowel movements and weight gain usually indicate if she is getting enough.

One of the culprits could be a milk sensitivity or allergy that your daughter might be having. This could explain the rash and the infrequent bowel movements. I would cut out dairy for awhile if your baby is really fussy and see if this makes a difference or not.

You may also want to talk with a lactation consultant about any breastfeeding issues you have.

I would take your baby to see the GP if she hasnt poo'd in a while - if you are breastfeeding try to increase the intake of fruits / vegtables - as this will go into your milk and pass to her - but check with your dr to make sure she is ok.
Are the spots red? put a tumbler / glass on them and press down slightly - to check for meningitis - not to worry you but check to be sure - it doesnt hurt.
If they are white, they are probably fine, and maybe related to the breastmilk - keep an eye on them or mention them to the dr when you see them. You could try Aqueous cream if you think they are itchy for her
